The Electrician is responsible for performing the installation, maintenance, repair, and modification of electrical and electronic systems at a Department of Defense (DoD) healthcare facility. This role supports interior and exterior electrical infrastructure, including high- and low-voltage systems, HVAC-related controls, fire alarm systems, and critical building equipment to ensure safe, reliable facility operations.
Perform installation, maintenance, repair, and modification of interior and exterior electrical wiring, circuits, systems, and components
Conduct HVAC electrical troubleshooting, including work on Siemens control systems
Repair, overhaul, service, and maintain commercial and industrial electrical and electronic systems
Locate, diagnose, and resolve electrical system or equipment failures and alarms, including critical building equipment
Test, install, repair, and maintain electrical equipment such as generators, automatic transfer switches (ATS), uninterruptible power supplies (UPS), transformers, switchboards, controllers, motors, circuit breakers, door operators, heating units, conduit systems, and transmission equipment
Perform fire alarm and/or call system testing and maintenance
Assist maintenance teams with electrical support and coordination
Maintain cleanliness and organization of assigned workspaces and the maintenance shop
Accurately document work performed using computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS)
Perform other duties as assigned
Required:
High school diploma or GED
Minimum of five (5) years of experience associated with commercial facilities
Knowledge of exterior and interior electrical wiring, components, and systems
Ability to safely use hand and power tools, testing equipment, aerial booms, and shop machines
Ability to read and interpret schematics, blueprints, and shop drawings
Ability to troubleshoot systems using electronics, computers, and software applications
Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
Reliable attendance and dependability
Ability to pass required federal, state, or local government background investigations
Preferred:
Electrician license
Ability to lift a minimum of 50 pounds and push up to 50 pounds of maintenance equipment
Work may require lifting and carrying equipment at heights up to 30–40 feet
Possible exposure to hazardous materials, requiring use of respirators and personal protective equipment
May be required to enter confined spaces such as ductwork, pits, and crawl spaces
Work performed in both interior and exterior environments, including exposure to electrical hazards
