The Grounds Maintenance Worker is responsible for performing general maintenance and repair tasks to support safe, reliable, and efficient facility operations. This role requires practical working knowledge across multiple trades, including carpentry, painting, masonry, light electrical, plumbing, and basic HVAC-related maintenance. The position supports preventive maintenance efforts and collaborates with team members to maintain building interiors, exteriors, and grounds.
Patch minor wall and ceiling defects using plaster, spackling compound, or similar materials
Perform minor concrete repairs to floors, sidewalks, steps, and curbs
Replace or repair damaged paneling, ceiling tiles, and floor tiles
Conduct light electrical work, including replacing lamps, ballasts, switches, outlets, and cover plates in accordance with safety standards
Perform basic HVAC-related maintenance such as changing air filters, replacing belts, lubricating components, and assisting with minor equipment servicing
Complete light plumbing repairs including replacing faucets, valves, toilets, flushometers, traps, and clearing minor drain blockages
Hang doors, install and adjust door hardware and locks, and replace broken windowpanes or glazing
Perform general maintenance and minor repairs on equipment and machinery
Complete touch-up painting, surface preparation, and patching throughout facilities
Collaborate with team members to maintain cleanliness, safety, and overall condition of buildings and grounds
Identify maintenance issues and report conditions requiring specialized repair or outside contractor support
Perform preventive maintenance tasks in accordance with established schedules and procedures
Follow all safety policies, procedures, and applicable codes
Perform other duties as assigned
Required:
High school diploma or GED
Minimum of three (3) years of general maintenance experience in a commercial facility
Experience working in indoor and outdoor building environments
Ability to understand and follow written and verbal instructions from supervisors or skilled trades personnel
Reliable attendance and dependability
Preferred:
Experience hanging doors, installing door locks, and replacing broken windowpanes
Previous experience in grounds maintenance, landscaping, or a related field
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
Frequent bending, squatting, kneeling, stooping, and climbing ladders
Ability to stand for extended periods and perform repetitive arm movements
Work performed both indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions
Occasional exposure to heat, cold, noise, dust, dirt, and chemicals
Work is primarily performed during normal business hours
Weekend and holiday work may be required based on operational needs
