Position Summary
The Quality Control Manager is responsible for ensuring all home models meet building code requirements for each jurisdiction where sales occur, while coordinating production operations to achieve timely completion, quality standards, and customer satisfaction. This role leads the quality control team, oversees inspection processes, and supports operational improvements that enhance product excellence and compliance.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with the drafting department to submit home plans to state and local regulatory agencies.
- Review and verify compliance with all code requirements in jurisdictions where sales are made.
- Research, specify, and maintain material and construction standards that meet codes and sustain product quality.
- Plan, supervise, and direct inspection of finished products for compliance with codes, company standards, and customer specifications.
- Recommend corrective actions and collaborate on Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to address nonconformances.
- Develop solutions to improve product quality and production efficiency at optimal cost.
- Assist in resolving legal issues related to customer service and warranty matters.
- Order and manage IBC certification labels, state labels, and electrical/plumbing certificates for required homes.
- Verify materials for proper specifications, grades, and installation practices.
- Inspect rough openings and floor plan layouts to ensure conformity with approved designs.
- Ensure all electrical, plumbing, heating, and structural systems meet applicable codes.
- Document and maintain inspection records, submitting them to appropriate personnel.
- Oversee identification, verification, and inclusion of shipped loose items for transport.
- Conduct final inspections of completed homes, noting deficiencies or shortages and notifying relevant teams.
- Analyze shortage and time-loss data, develop training recommendations, and present findings to management and production teams.
- Affix IBC certification labels and electrical/plumbing certificates to completed homes confirming compliance.
- Coordinate with transportation teams weekly to ensure required paperwork and completed checklists accompany outgoing units.
- Assemble and maintain warranty packets and current product warranty inventories.
- Stay current with all applicable building codes and maintain cooperative relationships with inspectors and officials.
- Assist production leadership in directing hourly personnel and maintaining a positive, safe work environment.
- Promote good housekeeping practices to support operational efficiency, safety, and morale.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications & Experience
Required:
- Associate degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field, or three (3) years of related experience/training, or equivalent combination.
- Experience creating, implementing, and managing inspection SOPs.
- Demonstrated leadership skills with experience coaching and developing teams.
- Strong knowledge of building constructability, passive fire-rated systems, and electrical/mechanical systems.
- Analytical problem-solving skills and ability to approach challenges from multiple perspectives.
- Excellent communication, listening, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to maintain composure, build relationships, and resolve issues effectively.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and manufacturing-related software.
Preferred:
- Bachelor’s degree in construction management or engineering, or five (5) years of related experience.

Work Environment & Physical Requirements
While performing the duties of this position, the employee may be exposed to moving mechanical parts and moderate noise levels. The role occasionally requires presence in manufacturing areas where safety glasses and hearing protection may be required.
The employee is regularly required to sit, talk, and hear, and occasionally walk. Lifting and moving materials up to 50 pounds may be required. Vision requirements include close visual focus for inspection and documentation tasks.
Schedule
Full-time, Monday through Thursday, 7:00 a.m. – 5:30 p.m., with overtime as needed.
Minimal travel may be required.
