WarHorse Gaming is a gaming and entertainment division of Ho-Chunk, Inc., developed in partnership with the Nebraska Horsemen’s Benevolent and Protective Association (HBPA). The Building Maintenance Engineer II is responsible for performing repairs and preventative maintenance on facility buildings, grounds, and mechanical equipment. This position ensures safe, efficient, and timely maintenance operations while upholding guest service excellence and operational standards.
Complete work orders and repairs in a timely and thorough manner
Maintain cost-effective repair and maintenance practices
Remain compliant with all applicable codes, including the National Electric Code
Evaluate equipment condition and recommend repair or replacement as needed
Diagnose and correct malfunctioning equipment and systems
Advise management on safety and cost-effectiveness of equipment operations
Conduct routine inspections of buildings and equipment to ensure safe and reliable operation
Prepare and maintain accurate documentation, including repair logs and maintenance records
Request equipment and supplies to maintain adequate inventory
Perform preventive maintenance and assist with installation of equipment
Ensure minimal equipment downtime to support optimal guest experience
Oversee completion and documentation of work orders with accurate details of materials and labor
Maintain a clean and safe working environment
Adhere to all safety, risk management, and environmental procedures
Train Building Maintenance Engineer I team members on troubleshooting, repair, and preventive maintenance
Maintain current knowledge of industry standards through continuing education and training
Perform additional duties as assigned
Required:
Must be 19 years of age or older
High school diploma, GED, or relevant experience
Technical degree or certification in Electrical or HVAC
Four (4) years of experience as a Building Maintenance Engineer (hospitality experience preferred)
Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
Ability to interpret and create schematics, blueprints, and technical diagrams
Experience with electrical systems up to 480v
Ability to estimate project time and material requirements accurately
Experience using electronic test equipment and related tools
Strong leadership and training skills
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
Commitment to guest service excellence and ethical conduct
Working knowledge of company internal controls and policies
Preferred:
OSHA 10 certification
Journeyman or Trade certification
Valid driver’s license
Exposure to weather extremes, confined spaces, loud noise, chemicals, fumes, dust, heights, and secondhand smoke
Requires mobility, agility, balance, coordination, and endurance for extended periods
Frequent lifting of up to 50 lbs.
Frequent bending, climbing, and use of hands and tools for mechanical work
Mental concentration and decision-making under time pressure
Due to the dynamic nature of the hospitality and entertainment industry, team members must be available to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and extended hours based on business needs.
