Position Summary

The Mutuels/Sportsbook Assistant Manager supports the Sportsbook Manager in the daily operations, supervision, and execution of sportsbook and mutuel wagering activities. This role ensures efficient operations, regulatory compliance, and exceptional guest service across the sportsbook and mutuel areas. The Assistant Manager provides leadership to team members, oversees event-day operations, and assists in staff development, scheduling, and performance monitoring.

This position plays a key role in maintaining operational integrity and delivering a first-class wagering experience that reflects WarHorse Gaming’s commitment to excellence and guest satisfaction.


Key Responsibilities

  • Assist the Sportsbook Manager with day-to-day operations of sportsbook and mutuel departments.

  • Oversee team members to ensure adherence to company policies, internal controls, and Nebraska Racing and Gaming Commission (NRGC) regulations.

  • Ensure accurate and timely execution of all wagers, payouts, and account transactions.

  • Monitor sportsbook equipment and systems to ensure functionality and compliance with technical standards.

  • Support staffing functions including hiring, onboarding, scheduling, and performance coaching.

  • Assist in developing training programs to enhance product knowledge and customer engagement.

  • Respond promptly and professionally to guest inquiries or disputes, ensuring positive resolution.

  • Collaborate with management and IT teams to troubleshoot system or operational issues.

  • Maintain accurate records and prepare operational reports as directed by the Sportsbook Manager.

  • Ensure all promotional and wagering activities comply with internal policies and regulatory requirements.

  • Support financial accountability by monitoring cash handling, payouts, and reporting accuracy.

  • Participate in audits and inspections to maintain compliance and operational readiness.

  • Lead by example in promoting guest service excellence, teamwork, and accountability.

  • Perform additional related duties as assigned.


Qualifications & Experience

Required:

  • Must be 21 years of age or older.

  • High school diploma or GED.

  • Two (2) or more years of experience in sportsbook, mutuel, or similar wagering operations.

  • Strong understanding of gaming and pari-mutuel regulations.

  • Proven leadership ability with experience supervising or training staff.

  • Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to handle cash transactions accurately and maintain confidentiality.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and point-of-sale (POS) or wagering software.

Preferred:

  • Associate degree or equivalent experience in hospitality, business management, or related field.

  • Previous experience in casino or racetrack sportsbook environments.

  • Familiarity with NRGC policies and compliance procedures.


Work Environment & Physical Requirements

  • Frequent standing, walking, and movement across sportsbook and mutuel areas.

  • Regular interaction with guests in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.

  • Exposure to secondhand smoke and noise typical of a casino setting.

  • Ability to lift and carry up to 25 lbs. and perform physical activity throughout the shift.

  • Requires extended periods of focus and attentiveness to detail.


Schedule

Swing shift schedule, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and special event days as required to meet operational needs.
