Summary

Perform various tasks to include repair and maintain company tools, equipment, vehicles and facilities. Provide equipment and material deliveries while tracking and reporting inventory locations and services needed or performed. Maintain shop and laydown yards, assist in scheduling as needed, and general construction activities.

  • General understanding of construction practices
  • Ability to take direction and carry out job duties as needed
  • Must be able to interpret descriptions of problems from workers to diagnose and identify problems with equipment.
  • Maintain wide variety of vehicles, equipment and power tools for construction use.
  • Provide inspection of company vehicles and equipment, report damage.
  • Delivery of supplies and equipment to job sites
  • Ensures timely and accurate delivery to job sites.
  • Receives orders and identify them for job and delivery.
  • Assist in maintaining tool inventory
  • Assist field workers in day to day construction tasks at times.
  • Follow OSHA safety regulations and maintain a clean and safe work environment.
  • Regularly attend company safety training sessions.
  • Understand and follow company chain of command and reporting methods.

Supervisory Responsibility

This position will assist in overseeing crews assigned to their specific project. Crews will consist of laborers, apprentice and journeymen.

 

Work Environment

This job performs physically demanding work. May work at great heights or outdoors in all weather conditions. The use Personal Protection Equipment is required.

 

Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

  • The position lifts heavy objects, walks and stands for long periods of time and performs strenuous physical labor under adverse field conditions.
  • The employee lifts, pushes, pulls or carries objects; uses abdominal and lower back muscles to provide support over time without fatigue; and effectively jumps, sprints or throws objects.
  • The position requires good manual dexterity (hand, hand with arm, two hands) and multi-limb coordination.
  • The position requires the ability to quickly move arms and legs. The employee must have excellent stamina.

 

Tool Requirements

  • Leather work boots
  • Weather appropriate clothing

 

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position (40 hrs./week). Days and hours of work are typically Monday through Friday, 7:00a.m. to 3:30p.m. with overtime as needed before/after shifts and on Saturdays.

 

Travel

Travel is primarily local during the business day, although some out-of-area and overnight travel may be expected.

 

Experience

  • Interpersonal/human relations skills, communication skills both verbal and written
  • Must be ability to stand for long periods of time, must be able to regularly lift at least 75 pounds of force and occasionally up to 100 pounds.
  • Knowledge of construction tools and products and delivery of equipment and procedures
  • Ability to understand verbal and written instructions
  • Ability to fabricate to include welding and cutting
  • Ability to work outdoors in cold and hot weather
  • General understanding of construction practices
  • Willingness to put forth extra effort
  • Communication skills both verbal and written

 

Education

  • High school diploma or Equivalent.
  • 1-3 years or more experience in a related area preferred.

 

Additional Eligibility Qualifications

  • Maintains a valid driver’s license and be insurable under company insurance provider/program
  • Must possess a Class A and B CDL
  • Knowledge of hazards and safety precautions of driving commercial vehicles
  • Able to work 40+ hours per week
