Compensation & Benefits

Salary Range: $70,000 - $85,000

Position Summary

The Journey Business Analyst / Governance Analyst supports the National Park Service (NPS) by enhancing enterprise data governance practices. This role plays a key part in implementing data management strategies, policies, and tools to improve data quality, accessibility, and compliance. Working collaboratively across technical and business teams, the analyst will assist in establishing data inventories, quality standards, and governance frameworks to enable informed decision-making and effective stewardship of organizational data assets.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the development and execution of enterprise-wide data governance frameworks, policies, and standards
  • Assist with establishing and maintaining data inventories and common data dictionaries
  • Contribute to the development of data quality standards and performance indicators
  • Participate in data strategy, open data, and public access plan initiatives
  • Provide guidance on streamlining data management processes and tools
  • Conduct data integrity and gap analyses; coordinate resolution with stakeholders
  • Draft detailed documentation including policies, meeting minutes, and internal procedures
  • Contribute to the work of the NPS Data Governance Steering Committee
  • Support data compliance, reporting, and communication activities
  • Collaborate with federal staff, IT teams, and business units to strengthen governance
  • Participate in workshops and cross-functional discovery sessions
  • Provide thought leadership in modern data architecture and integration

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Business Administration, Data Management, Computer Science, or related field
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in data governance, business analysis, or data management
  • Knowledge of enterprise data governance frameworks and tools
  • Strong analytical, facilitation, and communication skills
  • Experience with databases, data structures, and metadata standards
  • Ability to work in a collaborative, matrixed team environment
  • Proficient in documenting technical and policy information

Security Clearance

Successful completion/adjudication of a National Agency Check (NAC) or National Agency Check with Inquiries (NACI) required

Compliance with FAR 52.204-09 Personal Identity Verification and government security training

Work Environment & Physical Requirements

  • Work may be performed remotely with approval; periodic onsite visits to NPS facilities in Lakewood, CO may be required
  • Frequently required to sit, speak, and operate standard office equipment
  • Occasionally required to lift up to 25 pounds
  • Requires close and distance vision and the ability to focus for long durations

Schedule & Travel

  • Full-time position, Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. Mountain Time
  • Periodic travel may be required for onsite support, key meetings, or equipment setup
