Job Title: Seasonal Harvester

Department: Ho-Chunk Farms

Summary

Responsible for the harvest and preparation of Ho-Chunk Farms Indian Corn and weed management.

Essential Functions

· Maintain all harvest equipment and make sure it is clean and ready for next use • Prepare all the needs to harvest corn traditionally • Assemble and prepare Drying screens for harvesting • Keep track of volunteer workers on site • Remove weeds from rows manually • Perform all other duties as assigned

Supervisory Responsibility

This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities; however, this role may act as the first point of contact for junior level staff.

Work Environment

This job performs physically demanding work. May work outdoors in all weather conditions. The use of Personal Protection Equipment is required.

The position lifts heavy objects, walks and stands for long periods of time and performs strenuous physical labor under adverse field conditions. • The employee lifts, pushes, pulls or carries objects; uses abdominal and lower back muscles to provide support over time without fatigue; and effectively jumps, sprints or throws objects. • The position requires good manual dexterity (hand, hand with arm, two hands) and multi-limb coordination. • The position requires the ability to quickly move arms and legs. The employee must have excellent stamina.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Times may vary based on weather.

Travel

Travel is primarily local during the business day.

· Thorough knowledge of all practices in the agriculture field • Written/verbal communication and interpersonal skills • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables

Education

High School diploma or Equivalent.
