Job Title: Fitness Instructor
Job Summary: We are seeking a dynamic and motivated fitness instructor to join our team. As a fitness instructor, you will be responsible for leading and instructing group fitness classes, designing individualized exercise programs, providing fitness assessments, and offering guidance and support to clients to help them achieve their fitness goals. The ideal candidate will have a passion for fitness, excellent communication skills, and the ability to motivate and inspire others.
Responsibilities:
- Lead group fitness classes in various formats, such as cardio, strength training, yoga, Pilates, and dance.
- Demonstrate proper exercise techniques and ensure the safety of participants during workouts.
- Provide modifications and adjustments to accommodate different fitness levels and abilities.
- Design and implement individualized exercise programs tailored to clients' needs and goals.
- Conduct fitness assessments and consultations to evaluate clients' fitness levels, establish baseline measurements, and set realistic goals.
- Monitor clients' progress, track their performance, and provide ongoing feedback and encouragement.
- Educate clients on the importance of nutrition, hydration, and rest for overall health and fitness.
- Maintain a clean and organized workout environment, including equipment setup and sanitization.
- Stay current with industry trends, research, and best practices in fitness and wellness.
- Participate in continuing education opportunities to expand knowledge and skills.
- Promote fitness programs, classes, and services to attract new clients and retain existing ones.
- Assist with administrative tasks, such as scheduling appointments, processing payments, and maintaining client records.
Qualifications:
- Certification from a recognized fitness organization (e.g., ACE, NASM, ACSM, ISSA, NETA, AFAA, NETA).
- Yoga and aqua (water) instructors may have specialized certification without primary aerobics certifications.
- Previous experience teaching group fitness classes preferred.
- Strong knowledge of anatomy, exercise physiology, and biomechanics.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to motivate and inspire others to achieve their fitness goals.
- Must possess a current 1st aid/BLS/AED (American Heart) or CPR/AED (Red Cross) certification.
- Reliable, punctual, and professional demeanor.
- Flexible schedule, including availability to work mornings, mid-days, evenings and weekends.
- Have the ability to pass a background check to gain access to Offutt AFB.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand, walk, and move for extended periods.
- Lift and carry fitness equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Perform physical exercises and demonstrations with proper form and technique.
- Bend, stretch, and reach to set up equipment and assist clients as needed.
