SUMMARY

 

​​​​​​The Senior Project Manager is responsible for overseeing all staff and activities related to this project, including program management, grants management services, and Human-Centered Design (HCD) integration in technical assistance. This role involves planning and implementing HCD initiatives, coordinating project tasks, managing timelines, and ensuring the successful execution of both non-technical projects and specific portions of larger programs. The Senior Project Manager will work closely with the Senior Subject Matter Expert (SME) and other team members to align efforts with overall project goals and objectives, ensuring that resources are effectively utilized, progress is consistently monitored, and high standards of quality and compliance are maintained. As the single point of contact for project-related activities, the Senior Project Manager will provide leadership, direction, and support to the project team, facilitating collaboration, addressing challenges, and supporting new business development and client relations. This position reports directly to the Program Director, providing regular updates on project status, performance metrics, and strategic initiatives to ensure the efficient and effective achievement of project objectives.​

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

  • Project Planning and Coordination: Develop comprehensive project plans, schedules, and resource allocation strategies to ensure the successful completion of program management, grants management, and HCD integration initiatives. Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including end users, IT support, and client services, to align project activities with overall goals and objectives.
  • Task Management and Execution: Oversee the daily execution of all project tasks, ensuring activities are performed according to the established project plan. Supervise project team members and support staff, manage vendor relationships, and monitor deliverables to ensure adherence to quality standards and compliance requirements.
  • Monitoring and Reporting: Continuously monitor project timelines, identify potential risks or delays, and implement corrective measures to maintain project momentum. Prepare and present detailed status reports to the Program Director and senior management, outlining project progress, risks, and mitigation strategies.
  • Quality Assurance and Compliance: Ensure that all project deliverables meet high-quality standards and comply with federal regulations, organizational policies, and HCD best practices. Conduct regular quality reviews and checks to uphold project integrity and consistency.
  • Stakeholder Engagement and Communication: Act as the primary liaison for project stakeholders, including clients, team members, and senior leadership. Facilitate effective communication, collaboration, and feedback processes to ensure alignment with project objectives and address any issues that arise.
  • Resource Management: Assess staffing needs, assign tasks to meet project deadlines, and provide leadership and support to project team members. Participate in personnel evaluations, recommending actions related to hiring, training, and professional development.
  • Documentation and Process Improvement: Prepare, review, and approve Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), protocols, and other technical documentation. Identify and implement opportunities for process improvements to enhance project efficiency and overall effectiveness.
  • Business Development Support: Contribute to business growth by leading small proposal efforts and assisting with larger proposal initiatives. Engage in strategic planning and business development activities to expand project opportunities and strengthen client relationships.

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

 

  • ​​Extensive experience in overseeing project management activities, including strategic planning, execution, and monitoring of program management, grants management, and HCD initiatives. 
  • ​Exceptional organizational and multitasking skills, capable of managing multiple projects and coordinating a variety of tasks and resources effectively. 
  • ​Excellent communication and leadership abilities for engaging with stakeholders, fostering collaboration, and maintaining alignment with project goals and objectives. 
  • ​In-depth understanding of human-centered design principles, project management methodologies, and best practices to drive successful project outcomes. 
  • ​Proficiency in using project management software and tools for scheduling, tracking progress, generating reports, and ensuring project efficiency. 
  • ​Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills to effectively address project challenges, mitigate risks, and implement solutions to maintain project momentum.​ 

 

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

 

  • Bachelor’s degree with 8-10 years of experience, or a Master’s degree with 6-8 years of experience in project management, program management, or a related field.
  • ​Minimum of 2 years in a supervisory capacity, managing technical and professional personnel.
  • Experience in federal grants management or human-centered design integration is highly preferred.​

 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY

 

​​​​​​​​Responsible for overseeing daily task management, directing traffic for all three project objectives (program management, grants management, HCD integration), and providing regular reports on task status for Project Director oversight.

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT

 

​​​​​​​​The work environment is primarily office-based, involving collaboration with team members and interaction with stakeholders, with occasional offsite meetings and travel as required.​
