SUMMARY

 

​​​​​​ ​​The Project Manager is responsible for planning and implementing human-centered design (HCD) integration activities within various projects. This role includes coordinating project tasks, managing timelines, and ensuring the successful execution of HCD initiatives. The Project Manager works closely with the Senior Subject Matter Expert (SME) and other team members to align HCD efforts with overall project goals and objectives. This position involves overseeing non-technical projects or specific portions of larger programs, managing resources, tracking progress, and ensuring quality standards are met. The Project Manager serves as a single point of contact for project-related activities and plays a key role in supporting new business development and client relations.​

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

  • Project Planning and Coordination: Develop detailed project plans, schedules, and resource allocations to ensure the timely completion of HCD initiatives. Coordinate with cross-functional teams, including end users, IT support, and client services, to align project activities with overall objectives.
  • ​Task Management and Execution: Oversee the day-to-day execution of project tasks, ensuring that all activities are performed according to the established plan. Supervise support resources involved in project assignments and manage vendor integration, tracking vendor deliverables to ensure quality and compliance.
  • ​Monitoring and Reporting: Monitor project timelines, identify potential delays, and implement corrective actions to keep the project on track. Prepare and present status reports to senior management, highlighting project progress, risks, and mitigation strategies.
  • ​Quality Assurance and Compliance: Ensure that all project deliverables meet quality standards and comply with federal regulations, organizational policies, and HCD best practices. Conduct regular reviews and quality checks to maintain project integrity.
  • ​Stakeholder Engagement and Communication: Serve as the primary point of contact for project stakeholders, including clients, team members, and senior management. Facilitate communication and collaboration to address issues, gather feedback, and ensure alignment with project goals.
  • ​Resource Management: Estimate personnel needs, assign work to meet project deadlines, and provide guidance and support to team members. Participate in personnel evaluations, making recommendations for employment decisions, training, and development.
  • ​Documentation and Process Improvement: Prepare and approve Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), protocols, and other technical documentation. Identify opportunities for process improvement and implement changes to enhance project efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Business Development Support: Support follow-on business opportunities by leading small proposals or assisting with major proposals. Participate in strategic planning and business development initiatives to expand project opportunities and client relationships.​

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

 

  • ​​Proven experience in project management, including planning, execution, and monitoring of HCD or non-technical projects.
  • ​Strong organizational and multitasking abilities to manage multiple project components simultaneously.
  • ​Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective stakeholder engagement and collaboration.
  • ​Knowledge of human-centered design principles, project management methodologies, and best practices.
  • ​Proficiency in project management software and tools for scheduling, tracking, and reporting.
  • ​Strong problem-solving and decision-making capabilities to address project challenges and risks.​

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

 

  • Bachelor’s degree with 5-7 years of experience, or a Master’s degree with 3-5 years of experience in project management, business administration, HCD, or a related field.
  • ​Experience in managing projects within federal or public sector environments is preferred.​

 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY

 

​​​​​​​​​​Overall supervisor for all staff and activities related to this project, overseeing program management, grants management services, and Human-Centered Design Integration in Technical Assistance.​

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT

 

​​​​​​​​The work environment is primarily office-based, involving collaboration with team members and interaction with stakeholders, with occasional offsite meetings and travel as required.​
