Summary
Directs activities of workers concerned with construction of building, highways and other construction projects.
Essential Functions

- Studies specifications to plan procedures for construction on basis of starting and completion times and staffing requirements for each phase of construction, based on knowledge of available tools and equipment and various building methods.
- Assembles members of organization (supervisory, clerical, engineering and other workers) at start of project.
- Orders procurement of tools and materials to be delivered at specified times to conform to work schedules.
- Regularly works with supervisory and engineering personnel and inspectors and suppliers of tools/materials to resolve construction problems and improve construction methods.
- Confers with and directs supervisory personnel and subcontractors engaged in planning and executing work procedures, interpreting specifications and coordinating various phases of construction to prevent delays.
- Consult supervisory personnel and labor representatives to resolve complaints and grievances within workforce.
- Inspects work in progress to ensure that work conforms to specifications and that construction schedules are adhered to.
- Prepares, or receives from subordinates, reports on progress, materials used and costs, and adjusts work schedules as indicated by reports.
- May direct workers concern with major maintenance or reconditioning projects for existing installations.
- Workers are usually designated according to types of project, work or construction activity directed.
- Understand and follow company chain of command and reporting methods.

Supervisory Responsibility
This position will oversee all operation within the Construction environment
Work Environment
This job performs physically demanding work. May work at great heights or outdoors in all weather conditions. The use Personal Protection Equipment is required. May also be required to do office work with use of computers, copiers, fax, and answering systems.
Physical Demands
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
- Must be able to stand for long periods of time, and regularly lift 50 pounds or more
- The position lifts heavy objects, walks and stands for long periods of time and performs strenuous physical labor under adverse field conditions.
- Able to work 40+ hours per week
- The employee lifts, pushes, pulls or carries objects; uses abdominal and lower back muscles to provide support over time without fatigue; and effectively jumps, sprints or throws objects.
- The position requires good manual dexterity (hand, hand with arm, two hands) and multi-limb coordination.
- The position requires the ability to quickly move arms and legs. The employee must have excellent stamina.
- Must be able to be on feet for long periods of time up to 50% of the time.
- Occasionally moves about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc.
- Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine, and computer printer.
- Expresses or exchanges ideas by means of the spoken word. Those activities in which they must convey detailed or important spoken instructions to other workers accurately, loudly or quickly.
- Frequently moves all types of equipment up to 75 pounds.
- Must be able to work in various weather conditions for long periods of time
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position (40 hrs./week). Days and hours of work are typically Monday through Friday, 7:00a.m. to 3:30p.m. with overtime as needed before/after shifts and on Saturdays.
Travel
Travel is primarily local during the business day, although some out-of-area and overnight travel may be expected.
Experience
- Five or more years of experience in a related area preferred
- Knowledge of materials, methods, and the tools involved in the construction or repair of houses, buildings, or other structures
- Able to perform job duties with little to no supervision
- Able to layout, form, pour and finish concrete flatwork
- Ability to use logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems.
- General understanding of construction practices
- Willingness to put forth extra effort
- Communication skills both verbal and written
Education
Associate’s and/or Bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred.

Maintains a valid driver’s license and be insurable under company insurance provider/program
