Job Description
Job Title: Linen Supervisor
Business Title: Blue Sky Dynamic Group (Dynamic Systems)
FLSA Status: Exempt
Linen Supervisor services cover the management, collection, distribution, storage, and disposition of linen. DHA's linen-services procedures also emphasize safety, performance, cost control, and contract oversight.
Duties:
- Supervise daily linen operations, including clean-linen distribution and soiled-linen collection throughout the hospital.
- Lead and train linen personnel, assign daily workloads, monitor performance, and ensure adequate staffing.
- Maintain linen inventory and par levels to ensure patient-care areas have adequate supplies.
- Monitor linen usage, shortages, losses, and excessive consumption and take corrective action.
- Record and oversee pickup, processing, delivery, shortages, damaged linen, and service issues.
- Ensure proper separation, handling, transportation, and storage of clean and soiled linen to reduce contamination risks.
- Maintain quality-control and infection-prevention standards consistent with DHA and applicable healthcare laundry requirements. DHA has identified CDC, OSHA, EPA, DoD, and Healthcare Laundry Accreditation Council standards as important to its linen-management program.
- Conduct linen inspections and quality checks and report deficiencies.
- Maintain required records and reports, including inventories, deliveries, shortages, discrepancies, and performance documentation.
- Coordinate with nursing units, clinics, operating rooms, and other departments to resolve linen requirements.
- Support contract surveillance and performance monitoring and ensure contractor requirements are being met.
- Promote cost control and linen conservation while maintaining sufficient supplies for patient care.
- Ensure staff follow safety procedures and use appropriate PPE when handling soiled or contaminated linen.
- Prepare for DHA inspections and surveys and maintain linen-program documentation in inspection-ready condition.
- Report operational issues to leadership and recommend improvements to linen processes.
