Summary
The Locksmith is responsible for the installation, repair, modification, and opening of a variety of locking mechanisms throughout the facility, including doors, desks, compartments, mobile equipment, safes, and vaults. This role ensures the security and accessibility of various assets at Fort Campbell.
Wage:
$25.42/hr
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
- Maintenance & Installation: Examine locking mechanisms to install new units or disassemble existing units to replace worn tumblers, springs, and other parts.
- Repair Work: Perform repairs using specialized techniques such as filing, drilling, chiseling, and grinding.
- Emergency Access: Open door locks by moving a lock pick in the cylinder or open safe locks by listening to lock sounds or drilling.
- Key & Combination Management: Create new or duplicate keys using a key-cutting machine and change combinations by inserting new or repaired tumblers into locks.
- Systems Management: Establish and maintain keying systems for buildings.
- Miscellaneous: Perform other duties as assigned by supervision.
Core Competencies and Skills
- Technical Proficiency: Ability to use a variety of locksmith tools, including lock picks, key-cutting machines, drills, and grinders.
- Diagnostics: Skilled in examining mechanisms to determine the cause of malfunction and identifying necessary replacement parts.
- Precision: Ability to perform delicate work such as replacing internal springs and tumblers.
- Adaptability: Mentally and physically capable of performing duties as defined by company and client policy.
Education and Experience Requirements
- Licensing: Must possess and maintain any current trade licenses required by authorities designated by the clients.
- Security Clearance: Must be able to pass and maintain security investigations, suitability screenings, and be issued a contractor badge for Langley Air Force Base.
- Background Screening: Required to undergo a pre-employment background check, which includes a criminal records check and drug test.
- General Health: Must meet medical requirements, including necessary immunizations as required to work at the project site.
- Driver’s License: If required to operate a company vehicle, the employee must maintain a valid license and may be subject to a Motor Vehicle Records check.
