SUMMARY
The Paralegal provides comprehensive legal support and administration to attorneys and other legal professionals. This role focuses on corporate, labor and employment, transactional, and administrative law.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Legal Research: Research and analyze law sources, including statutes, judicial decisions, legal articles, treaties, constitutions, and legal codes.
- Document Preparation: Prepare various legal documents—such as briefs, pleadings, appeals, contracts, and articles of incorporation—for review and use by corporate counsel.
- Case Investigation: Investigate case facts and relevant laws to determine causes of action and prepare cases accordingly.
- Administrative Support: Perform clerical duties including scheduling appointments, taking dictation, composing routine correspondence, and routing mail.
- File Management: Maintain paper and electronic files, prepare affidavits of documents, and ensure the proper indexing and filing of original legal documents.
- Monitoring & Tracking: Organize and track matter progress files and monitor new or updated laws and regulations.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
- Required Education: A Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) or one to two years of related experience/training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Certification: Paralegal certification is required.
- Professional Experience: At least three (3) years of experience as a paralegal in a city, county, state office, public interest entity, law firm, or corporate legal department.
- Specialized Knowledge:
- Experience writing reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
- Thorough knowledge of legal terminology, principles, and research techniques.
- In-depth knowledge of local, state, and federal laws and regulations.
- Proficiency in relevant computer software.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
The role operates in a professional office environment and involves the routine use of standard equipment such as computers, phones, and photocopiers. Physical demands include regular talking and hearing, frequent standing or walking, and the ability to occasionally lift up to 20 pounds.
TRAVEL
Travel is primarily local during the business day, though some out-of-the-area and overnight travel may be expected as duties demand
