Position Summary

The Assistant Executive Housekeeper supports the Executive Housekeeper in overseeing Environmental Services (EVS) operations for assigned government healthcare contracts. This role assists with supervising custodial teams, ensuring compliance with contract requirements, maintaining safe and sanitary environments, and supporting daily operational activities. The position plays a key role in promoting operational excellence, workforce engagement, and customer satisfaction.


Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in supervising and coordinating housekeeping staff to ensure all assigned areas meet cleanliness, safety, and contract standards

  • Support the development, adjustment, and execution of daily, weekly, and monthly work schedules

  • Conduct routine inspections to verify work quality and compliance with Performance Work Statement (PWS) requirements

  • Collaborate with the Executive Housekeeper to maintain accurate inventory records, equipment logs, and asset tracking

  • Train new and existing team members on cleaning procedures, equipment use, safety practices, and infection control protocols

  • Serve as a communication liaison between shift leads and management to align operational goals and resolve issues

  • Respond to client inquiries and concerns in a professional and timely manner, escalating complex matters as appropriate

  • Monitor the proper handling, storage, and use of cleaning supplies, chemicals, and equipment

  • Assist with administrative reporting related to inspections, staffing, incidents, and supply usage

  • Provide leadership coverage in the absence of the Executive Housekeeper, including emergency after-hours response when required

  • Promote a culture of safety, accountability, and teamwork across all operations


Qualifications & Experience

Required:

  • High school diploma or GED

  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience in healthcare environmental services (EVS) or custodial operations, preferably in a medical or government facility

  • Minimum of one (1) year of supervisory or team lead experience

  • Knowledge of infection prevention practices and hospital-grade disinfectants

  • Familiarity with Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) regulations and custodial standards

  • Ability to read and interpret work statements, policies, and safety procedures

  • Proficiency in operating cleaning equipment such as floor buffers, carpet extractors, and vacuums

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail

  • Effective verbal and written communication skills

  • Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds and perform physical cleaning duties

Preferred:

  • Certified Healthcare Environmental Services Professional (CHESP) credential or equivalent

  • Experience supporting government custodial or environmental services contracts


Work Environment & Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift and carry objects weighing up to 50 pounds

  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and reach for extended periods

  • Comfortable working with cleaning chemicals and hospital-grade disinfectants

  • Exposure to healthcare environments, including potential biohazards

  • Ability to work in a variety of indoor environmental conditions

  • Schedule may vary based on contract and operational needs

  • Availability for emergency after-hours response as required
