SUMMARY
Performs general maintenance and repair of buildings, grounds, and equipment requiring practical skill and knowledge in multiple trades, including painting, carpentry, masonry, light electrical, plumbing, and HVAC-related tasks. Responsible for completing preventive maintenance activities to support safe, reliable, and efficient facility operations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Uses plaster, spackling compound, or similar materials to patch minor holes, cracks, and surface defects in walls and ceilings.
- Performs minor concrete repairs to floors, steps, sidewalks, and curbs.
- Replace or repairs damaged paneling, ceiling tiles, and floor tiles.
- Performs light electrical work, including replacing lamps, ballasts, switches, outlets, and cover plates in accordance with safety standards.
- Performs basic HVAC-related maintenance, including changing air filters, replacing belts, lubricating components, and assisting with minor equipment servicing.
- Performs light plumbing repairs, such as replacing faucets, valves, toilets, flushometers, traps, and clearing minor drain blockages.
- Hangs doors, installs and adjusts door hardware and locks, and replaces broken windowpanes or glazing.
- Performs general maintenance and minor repairs on equipment and machinery.
- Complete touch-up painting, surface preparation, and patching as needed throughout the facility.
- Works collaboratively with team members to maintain the overall condition, cleanliness, and safety of buildings and facility grounds.
- Identifies maintenance issues and reports conditions requiring specialized repair or outside contractor support.
- Performs preventive maintenance tasks in accordance with established schedules and procedures.
- Follows all safety policies, procedures, and applicable codes while performing assigned duties.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Experience and Skill Requirements
- GED or High School Graduate
- 3 years’ experience doing general maintenance work in a commercial facility
- Experience working in an outdoor or indoor building environment
- Experience hanging doors, installing door locks, and replacing broken window panes preferred but not required
- Able to understand verbal or written direction from lead, supervisor or other craftsmen
- Attendance is required to be successful
Experience
Previous experience in ground maintenance, landscaping, or related field preferred.
Education
High school diploma or Equivalent required.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY
This position has no supervisory.
Work Environment
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs., squat, bend, stoop and kneel for short periods, climb a ladder, stand for long periods of time, constant arm extensions.
- Occasional exposure to elements such as heat, cold, noise, dust, dirt, chemicals, but none to the point of being disagreeable.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- Work is primarily performed outdoors in a variety of weather conditions.
- Work may be performed in a variety of settings, including parks, public buildings, and other government-owned properties.
