Position Summary

The On-Call Mutuels Cashier is responsible for accurately processing sports and horse racing wagers, including ticket sales, payouts, and transaction reconciliation. This role delivers a high level of guest service while ensuring compliance with all gaming regulations, internal controls, and company standards in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.


Key Responsibilities

  • Accurately enter betting information, issue tickets, and process payouts for sports and horse racing wagers
  • Verify wagers and ensure compliance with departmental policies, procedures, and applicable regulations
  • Explain wagering rules, betting lines, and odds to guests in a clear and professional manner
  • Maintain and balance an assigned cash bank, ensuring accuracy in all cash and electronic transactions
  • Reconcile cash drawer at the end of each shift in accordance with internal controls
  • Provide exceptional guest service by addressing questions, concerns, or complaints and escalating as needed
  • Maintain awareness of current sporting events, racing schedules, and property offerings
  • Ensure work area is clean, organized, and stocked with required supplies
  • Follow all company safety standards and operational procedures
  • Attend required training sessions and team meetings
  • Maintain a professional appearance and demeanor at all times
  • Support team operations and perform additional duties as assigned

Qualifications & Experience

Required:

  • Must be 21 years of age or older
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Strong customer service and interpersonal communication skills
  • Basic cash handling and transaction processing abilities
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, guest-focused environment
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Nebraska Gaming License

Preferred:

  • Previous experience as a Mutuels Writer/Teller
  • One (1) year of experience in guest service and cash or credit card processing
  • Knowledge of sports, horse racing, and wagering systems
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite or related software

Work Environment & Physical Requirements

  • Frequent standing and movement within a casino and sportsbook environment
  • Exposure to noise, crowds, and secondhand smoke
  • Use of hands and fingers for cash handling and computer operations
  • Ability to communicate clearly with guests and team members
  • Must maintain focus and accuracy in a fast-paced setting

Schedule

  • This is an on-call position with variable hours based on operational needs
  • Must be available to work flexible schedules, including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • May be assigned shifts at multiple WarHorse Gaming locations (Lincoln, Omaha, South Sioux City)
